Henshaw designed, manufactured and installed the curtain walling with significant interfaces to the precast.

This involved supply and installation of Schueco FWS60 SG lower floor double glazed curtain walling, Schueco FWS60 upper floor triple glazed capped curtain walling, Schueco FWS60 triple glazed capped rooflight, Schueco ADS 65HD swing doors, Schueco ASS 70 HI Sliding doors and Forster Thermfix Vario EI60 firescreens.

This impressive building is the second on the site with Henshaw continuing the working relationship with main contractor Multiplex following completion of the James McCune Smith Teaching Hub.

The key design issues of the build related to stringent u-value requirements which required the use of triple glazing. As there was an aspiration to not have visual breaks between vision and non vision, the triple glazed units ran full height and incorporated a partial frit at slab edge locations. To architecturally enhance the main entrance, true curved glass units (not facetted) were installed.

The Advanced Research Centre, was officially opened on the 8th June 2022.

The trust gained in our capabilities and workmanship is reflected in the fact that Henshaw are now on-site with a 3rd build, the Adam Smith building with the same main contractor and client.
